Knowing God Through Love
This
is the final part of our series with movies. I pray that you all, as
readers, have seen some awesome truths about our God through it. Today
our movie is Gnomeo and Juliet. As you might know and can assume
from the title, it is a love story, which I feel is the biggest lesson
to learn about from our Lord. Love.
The passage is one of my personal favorites and that is 1 John 4. Here is an excerpt from the whole chapter:
God is love. If we can understand this, love becomes an even more powerful gift we can give others. Gnomeo and Juliet are from opposing families, the Reds and the Blues, and when they first meet each other they must realize the love they have on their side.
Gnomeo was going to be going against everything that their world said, a Blue gnome with a Red gnome. He knew the love that he had for Juliet was that powerful that it would be worth it.
Now this love was fictional, imagine a love that is infinitely larger. A love that someone would die for. A love that someone DID die for. This is the love that God is. This is the love that we must know and understand if we are to truly experience Christ and His message.
One of the best parts of the movie is the soundtrack. It is happy, joyful, and makes your foot start tapping. It creates a certain mood for the film. It allows viewers to see the film in this romantic and inviting sense. What helps create the mood for the love that Christ offers and is? What ways as Christians are we making the love that we say we have received seem inviting?
Happiness and Joy. I know I have said it before, but how do we most effectively start conversations about our faith. Difference, when people start asking questions about why you are different or happy all the time, we get the chance to point them to Christ. This is not always an easy transition, but with discipline it can come. It's a personal struggle of mine to avoid the spotlight, but God gets the glory, and if the spotlight allows you to love on more people, then maybe God put you there for a reason.
So embrace this happiness and joy, go out, break the odds and believe in the love that we have received. If you remember anything from this please let it be this, God is love.
Thanks for reading.
